OUR STORY
Petty Thieves Brewing Co was born in 2020 out of a passion for brewing incredible beer to be enjoyed in a space unlike anything the Charlotte beer scene had seen before. A comforting third space that broke the conventions of a typical brewery taproom or bar, built for gathering with friends and making new ones. Thanks to the help and support of local architecture group, Cluck Design, the PTBC taproom came to life. From a southern take on an outdoor biergarten, a gothic bar, and even a secret meeting room.
In March 2026, the brewery changed hands, with Brian Kletch taking the helm with a revised vision and renewed focus to write the second volume of Petty Thieves Brewing Co. A story that keeps the feel that won Charlotte’s Best Taproom in 2024 while further emphasizing community building, connection, and charity, with a focus on a global beer story, led by one of the best brewers in North Carolina.

Everyone gets a seat, not just at the taproom, in the community - our community. Every beer/drink, every event, every interaction is built around the idea that nobody should have to wonder if this place is for them. It is. Everyone who enters the door should be warmly welcomed for who they are. It’s a no judgement zone!

The beer is exceptional. The vibe thoughtful. But what we're actually building is a place where people look up from their phones, talk to the person next to them, and leave feeling less alone. Everything we do serves that. Only one TV, but too many memories to count!
